Next fall, you’ll have more than one really good reason to visit Patriot Place in Foxborough. And it has virtually nothing to do with Tom Brady or the Patriots.

Coming fall 2020 to the shopping, dining, and entertainment complex adjacent to Gillette Stadium is a brand new indoor skydiving facility, located between CBS Sporting Club and Showcase Live. Having a hard time picturing what that might look like? Let us help. Picture yourself in the most fashionable flying suit—you know those ones that kind of give you wings under your armpits—a 100-foot clear cylinder wind tunnel, and you’re hovering mid-air inside of it. Might not be as adrenaline-inducing as jumping out of a plane, but you get the idea.

The idea to bring this to the Patriots homeland came from North Attleboro resident, and Army veteran, Neal Gouck. After a conversation with his wife about why there wasn’t a facility close to their home, he decided to take matters into his own hands and created the concept for the Freedom Wind Tunnel Indoor Skydiving Facility.

Gouck’s plan for the facility is to offer skydiving to people of all ages and abilities, while creating a fun family-oriented experience for everyone. Not only will you be able to free fall through the air, but participants will also get the chance to partake in virtual reality experiences like delivering the game ball to the 50-yard-line of an NFL stadium. Maybe, say, Gillette? See, we said it had virtually nothing to do with the Patriots. The space will also be used for professional skydiving and military training as well.

“My military training taught me how to put all the right pieces and all the right partners together at the right time,” Gouck said in a release. “Now, after five-plus years, we are ready to break ground and you might say, we are out of the plane and already in free fall. We are excited to move into this new phase of development by landing this facility at Patriot Place and turn that simple conversation so long ago into concrete reality.”
